The contents of your home are undoubtedly valuable to you, and whilst no
insurance can cover sentimental items, having adequate contents insurance
to allow you to replace damaged or lost items is important to ensure that
you will not have to foot the bill if the worst should happen. Home contents
insurance will cover virtually all of the items in your home, including
electrical goods, clothing, white goods and general personal effects along
with fixtures and fittings.
Contents Insurance:
Most home contents insurance policies will have a limit to the total amount
that you can claim for, and you should ensure that this amount is sufficient
to cover the value of the items in your home. How much your home contents
insurance will cost you will depend on a number of factors, the main ones
being the value of the insurance and the risk of theft, fire and flood that
your house is deemed to be exposed to. If your house is on a riverbank and
is liable to flooding then you may find that you are unable to arrange contents
insurance, in contrast if your home is situated on high land and in a low-crime
area your premiums will be relatively low.
